Easter

We celebrated Easter last weekend at Park and then with Marc's family at Uncle Richard's home.

Kohler

Marc and I enjoyed a relaxing get-a-way in Kohler, WI this weekend while Dylan stayed at Papa and Nana's. The service and the spa at the American Club are just as people talked about - fabulous. We were so thankful to have some great couple time, and time to rest and get rejuvenated.

We went to Whistling Straits, an amazing and unique golf course that hosted the PGA Championship in 2004 (and will again in 2010.) It's designed like the courses in Scotland and Ireland with huge bunkering and greens that hang over the edge of Lake Michigan. Quite something to see.

With Dylan learning to stand, he has discovered a whole new world. He is fascinated with looking outside, and loves to take a peek out our backdoor.

Texture Aversion

There is a certain type of material that Dylan does not like. Watch the excitement grow, and then diminish as Marc presented him with a stuffed animal he just bought.

Grease is the Word

I put a little too much baby oil on Dylan's head the other day. (He did not just get out of a bath - that is perfectly dry hair.)

On another hair note (can you say that?) - it's been awhile since D's last haircut, and I noticed that he has curls/waves with his longer locks!

Entering the Toddler Years

Our toilet wasn't working properly, so we had to call a plumber. When he asked if we'd dropped anything in the toilet, our immediate response was no. Then we all turned towards Dylan with looks of curiosity. Sure enough, 5 minutes later, the plumber (chatting with Marc, above) discovered the culprit to our clog - Dylan's plastic hairbrush. I had let him play with it, and he obviously thought it should have a new home in the toilet. Enter....the toddler years.

A Familiar Face

It was awesome to see my college roommate Leah this weekend. It had been years since we'd seen each other. She and her husband Ross now live in the area, so we got together with our husbands and our good friend Justin. Leah and I went to school in Iowa but are both South Dakota girls. At one point Leah shared that her parents had sold the farm. We all laughed. How often is it the case where that is meant - literally?! Fun to talk "South Dakota talk" with a friend. :)

Scaffolding

One of the "hats" that Marc wears is maintenance rep for our condo board. He got more than he bargained for when it turned out the exterior of our building needed some major repairs. After much investigative work, they pinpointed the problem and the work began this past week. Dylan has LOVED watching the "scaffolding dudes," as we call them, do their work. He pounds on the window and waves to them. They are kind and knock and wave back.

Moo-rie And Me

Dylan officially has a favorite book. It is very fun to watch him use discretion and pick out "Moo-rie and Me"...every....single....time. :)

Coffee Table

We knew the coffee table we recently bought would serve more than just the purpose of holding our drinks. It opens up to store toys too. Little did we know it would have a third purpose - fort/play area for Dylan. He loves it in there.

Keeping Us Entertained

Dylan gets so excited about his toys sometimes that he crawls up on top of them. (We got him an old computer keyboard because he was slightly obsessed with ours.)

First Trip to Navy Pier

Dylan accompanied his daddy to the Chicago Flower and Garden Show at Navy Pier on Friday. Marc supplied pavers for an exhibit there.

Little Boys

Dylan and I met my aunt and cousins and kids in Evanston on Friday. Connor and Carter had fun taking the free magazines on the street corner, and are displaying their copies of "Today's Chicago Woman."

We saw our good friends Cortt and Jen's new baby Connor on Saturday. He is beautiful!

Dylan used sign language for the first time yesterday! I asked him if he wanted more apple (I wasn't even signing), and when I turned towards him he was touching his hands together to signify "more." You should have heard the shriek of happiness that came from my mouth. I must admit, I was one proud mommy! Two thumbs up for Baby Signing!
